2014 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Silver Eagle Vineyard
ワインメーカー・ノート
This wine has gotten better every year since we first bottled it in 2009. The farming of the vineyard by owner Ulises Valdez and his crew has always been top notch, the improvements have come more on our end in how we vinify and blend the blocks we receive. Dark garnet in color and darker fruited than the other offerings, this is a meatier style compared to the colder climate Occidental bottlings. Like 2012 and 2013, we used 10% whole cluster to give the mid palate a bit more texture and cut the more overt fruitiness of the site. There’s a slight bit of reduction on the nose that comes across as crushed vitamin but it quickly dissipates with air. This version of Silver Eagle features the best balance yet between ripeness, acidity and tannin.
