The 2018 Hudson is Carneros Chardonnay at its finest. Seductive aromas of lemon confit, stone fruit preserves, and almond croissant ascend from the glass, melding with notions of flinty crushed gravel, apple pie spice, and honeycomb. The palate is textured and full-bodied with layers of orchard fruit oils interlaced with a saline complexity and a bucolic note of sunbaked hay. Balanced and well-proportioned, enjoy this wine over the next 10 to 15 years. The wine has a slight haziness showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.

The nose is redolent of butterscotch, baked apples, spice cake and chopped cashews with a core of baked pineapples and preserved lemons. The rich, full-bodied, decadently fruited palate offers layer upon layer of savory flavors with compelling lemony sparks and a seamless acid backbone, finishing seductively creamy and on a long-lingering honey-nut note.

Ripe-peach, chalk, smoked-almond, matchstick and phenolic aromas. Floral notes, too. It’s full-bodied, creamy and oily. So balanced and restrained, yet dense and impressive. Minerally. Give this time. Try after 2022, but already fantastic.
