"Similarly styled (to the 2010), the 2012 Pinot Noir Gap’s Crown has plenty of charred spices, plum, licorice, scorched earth and dried flowers to go with a medium to full-bodied, rich, yet nicely focused style on the palate. It took plenty of air, so decant if drinking anytime soon. It should have a solid 8-10 years of evolution.
This was another stacked lineup by the team of Dan Kosta and Michael Browne. All of these wines showed the more approachable style of the 2012 vintage, and had seamless, elegant characters. They're beautiful now, but I suspect they will evolve nicely given their overall balance. "

The Gap’s Crown vineyard is owned and managed by Gap’s Crown, LLC and is located in the Petaluma Wind Gap. Kosta Browne Winery has purchased Gap’s Crown Pinot Noir grapes since 2006 and now enjoys a long term lease of 37 planted acres. “It has been the backbone of our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir program and contributed to our 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir being awarded Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year in 2011,” says Michael Browne, founder of Kosta Browne Winery. Their viticulture is second to none, producing some of the finest grapes in Sonoma County.
Aromatics:
Wildflowers, cherry and huckleberry are followed by truffles and baking chocolate.
On the palate:
Precise and textured with chocolate cherry and briary fruit on the front palate. Notes of orange flower and fennel seed define a long and smooth finish.
