It possesses a dense ruby/purple color along with terrific structure, lots of creme de cassis, minerality, beautiful purity of black currants and cherries, a judicious touch of oak, and a full-bodied, structural profile that is almost Bordeaux-like. "Good deep red. Very ripe black raspberry aroma shows an intriguing gingery nuance along with a suggestion of candied red fruits. Then fat, opulent and sweet, with the candied quality carrying through in the mouth. Richer and more pliant in texture than the preceding vintages. Finishes with big but silky tannins and lingering red berry fruit. There's no longer any American oak used in this wine, and the integration of tannins is better here than in the '07, which in turn was an improvement over the '06. My visit to this estate suggests that the renowned Georges de Latour bottling is back at the top of its game." - Stephen Tanzer (May/Jun 10)
